"Township Government... The Government Closest To The People!"
Named for the Pottawatomie War Chief Wauponsie, Wauponsee Township sits at the center of Grundy County, Illinois on the southern bank of the Illinois River. Rolling farmlands make up the township with rich, fertile prairies of grass and corn. Beautiful trees of oak and walnut surround the land with small fruits and vegetables grown liberally throughout the area. The principle crop found in Wauponsee is corn with a following of successful growers working the local farms. In addition to crops, many dairy and stock farmers make their home in Wauponsee raising livestock.
